Everything about trampolines

What shape is best for me?

At BERG we sell round, oval (Grand) and rectangular (Ultim) trampolines. If you are looking for a trampoline to buy you may already know what shape trampoline you want. If you're not sure yet, it is always nice to be well-informed so that you can make a better choice. You may not think the shape matters, however, there is a difference between the various trampolines shapes that BERG offers. Of course, all-shaped trampolines are good for jumping on, but it's worth thinking about which shape will suit you best before buying one. The shape mainly relates to the size of the 'perfect jump area' (the area on the trampoline best for jumping) and how much space the trampoline will take up in your garden. So think about this carefully. BERG has a very wide range of trampolines in all different shapes and sizes. You can choose between a round, oval and rectangular trampoline shape. The traditional trampoline shape is round, but as of recently we also have a square trampoline. This shape has the same benefits as a rectangular trampoline. See below what the attributes are for each shape.

A trampoline with a rectangle shape (Ultim)

A rectangular trampoline has an optimal "jump area", which means there is a much larger area across the centre of the trampoline for better jumping. So when jumping, you are not pushed back into the centre of the trampoline as much. This allows you to jump more comfortably. In addition, a trampoline that is rectangular has a stronger frame than one that is round. With a rectangular trampoline, the forces loading the frame are not evenly distributed, requiring a stronger frame to absorb peak forces. The rectangular shape is often chosen by professionals and athletes, as the springs work independently, allowing for controlled jumps and is ideal for practising tricks! The rectangular trampoline is very popular in the Netherlands, which is due to the fact that most gardens in the Netherlands are rectangular. This makes a trampoline that is rectangular very efficient, and you lose minimal surface area.

Round Trampolines

Safe, comfortable and not forgetting those high jumps. The round trampoline is a shape that everyone knows, it is the commonly used traditional shape that is still very popular. A trampoline that is round has an optimal "jump point", this means that the centre of the trampoline is where you will jump the highest and it will feel the most comfortable. The proportional spring tension pushes you back a little towards this centre point as you jump, allowing you to jump to your full potential again. The disadvantage of a round trampoline compared to an oval or rectangular trampoline is that the 'perfect jump area', (the area where you can jump most comfortably) is slightly smaller.

Oval trampoline (Grand)

The big advantage of a trampoline that is oval is the elongated and large jump area on which you can have a great time jumping. This is larger than in the case of a round trampoline. It also makes your jumps easy to control, and you benefit from the solid round shape. Due to its shape, an oval trampoline also automatically makes you jump safely to the centre of the trampoline. The oval shape has the benefits of a round and rectangular shape.
